# Root Server & VPS Guides

Root server & VPS guides – setup, firewall, monitoring and performance at NexoraHost. For gamers and server admins.

**Quick answer:** Root servers and VPS (Virtual Private Server) give you full control over your server environment – ideal for game servers, voice servers and custom projects. At NexoraHost you'll find all guides for setup, security and performance.

**If you landed here:** You have a VPS/root server at NexoraHost and need setup, security or performance help.

A **VPS** shares physical hardware with other customers but is more affordable and flexible. A **root server** provides dedicated resources and maximum performance – perfect for large game servers with many players.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### Root server or VPS – what do I need?

For small to medium game servers (up to 20 players), a VPS with 4–8 GB RAM is often enough. For large communities, modded servers or multiple services simultaneously, we recommend a root server with dedicated CPU.

### Which ports do I need to open for game servers?

It depends on the game. Minecraft uses port 25565, ARK 7777/7778, FiveM 30120. Our [firewall guide](/en/root-v-server/firewall-ports) explains the setup step by step.
