What is a Root Server?
A root server is a physical or dedicated isolated server where the entire hardware performance is exclusively available to you. Unlike a VPS, you share resources with no one.
How a root server works
You get full control over the hardware – CPU, RAM, storage and network are assigned exclusively to you. You have root access and can freely choose and configure the operating system. Perfect for applications that require consistent peak performance.
Resource allocation at NexoraHost
With root servers, we allocate a maximum of 100% of server performance – never more. In most cases we intentionally leave some reserve free, so you always have the full performance available. No overselling, no fluctuations caused by other users.
Comparison: Root Server vs. VPS
| Feature | Root Server | VPS |
|---|---|---|
| Resources | Dedicated, no overselling | Shared, overselling possible |
| Utilization | Maximum 100%, usually with reserve | Can exceed 100% |
| Price | Higher | More affordable |
| Performance | Full dedicated performance | Guaranteed base + burst |
| Use case | Production environments, large projects | Web hosting, small projects, test environments |
