Minecraft Server Commands – OP, Whitelist, TPS & Console

This overview shows you the most important commands for managing your Minecraft server – from the console and as operator (OP) in-game. The commands work for Vanilla, Paper, Spigot and most other server variants.

Server Console (Startup Parameters and Control)

These commands are entered directly in the server console:

stop Shut down server cleanly and save world
restart Restart server
save-all Manually save all worlds
save-on Enable automatic saving
save-off Disable automatic saving
list Show all connected players
whitelist on/off Enable or disable whitelist
whitelist add/playername Add player to whitelist
whitelist remove/playername Remove player from whitelist
whitelist list Show all players on whitelist

Player Management (OP Commands In-Game)

These commands can be entered as OP in the game chat or in the console with / in front:

/op playername Make a player an operator
/deop playername Remove operator rights
/kick playername reason Kick a player from the server
/ban playername reason Permanently ban a player
/ban-ip playername Ban the player's IP address
/pardon playername Lift a player's ban
/pardon-ip ip-address Lift an IP ban
/banlist Show all banned players

Game Mode and World

Command Function
/gamemode survival playername Set player to survival mode
/gamemode creative playername Set player to creative mode
/gamemode spectator playername Set player to spectator mode
/gamemode adventure playername Set player to adventure mode
/time set day Set time to day (1000)
/time set night Set time to night (13000)
/time set noon Set time to noon (6000)
/time set 0 Set time to start of day (sunrise)
/weather clear Set weather to clear
/weather rain Enable rain
/weather thunder Enable thunderstorm
/difficulty peaceful Difficulty peaceful
/difficulty easy Difficulty easy

Teleportation and Position

Command Function
/tp player1 player2 Teleport player 1 to player 2
/tp x y z Teleport to coordinates
/tp playername x y z Teleport specific player to coordinates
/spawn Teleport to world spawn
/setworldspawn Set world spawn to your position

Items and Inventory

Command Function
/give playername item amount Give a player an item (e.g. /give Steve diamond 10)
/clear playername Clear a player's inventory
/enchant playername enchantment level Enchant the item in hand
/kill playername Instantly kill a player

/version Show server version
/tps Show ticks per second (Paper/Spigot only)
