Requirements
- 64-bit CPU with virtualization support (Intel VT-x / AMD-V)

- 32 GB free storage (SSD recommended)
- Static IP address for the server
Step 1: Download the ISO
- Visit proxmox.com/downloads
- Download the latest Proxmox VE ISO
- Verify the SHA256 checksum of the file
Step 2: Create a bootable USB stick
Write the ISO to a USB stick using Rufus (Windows) or dd (Linux) and boot your server from it.
Step 3: Run the installation
- Select Install Proxmox VE in the boot menu
- Choose the target disk (ext4 or ZFS)
- Set country, timezone and keyboard layout
- Set root password and email address
- Enter hostname and static network configuration
- Start the installation and reboot after completion
Step 4: Open the web interface
After reboot, access the web interface at:
https://your-server-ip:8006
Log in with root and your password (Realm: Linux PAM).
Step 5: Adjust repository (no-subscription)
If you don't use an enterprise subscription, disable the enterprise repository and use the no-subscription repo:
sed -i 's/^deb/#deb/' /etc/apt/sources.list.d/pve-enterprise.list
apt update && apt full-upgrade -y
