This guide shows you how to optimize your Farming Simulator server after installation – for better performance, fewer lags and a smooth gaming experience.

Choose the right number of slots

Each slot reserves resources. Only choose as many slots as needed. A 16-slot server with 4 players still consumes the full performance.

Manage and optimize mods

• Only install mods that are actually needed
• Large mod maps with many objects put heavy load on the server
• Regularly check mods for updates – outdated versions cause errors
• Deactivate unused mods instead of deleting them
• Keep the mod folder clean and avoid duplicate entries

Web admin panel settings

• Set auto-save interval to 15-30 minutes – saving too frequently causes lags
• Choose maximum player count in the panel according to your hardware
• Lower unnecessary features like AI worker limits

Improve network and latency

• Run the server via LAN cable instead of WiFi
• Forward ports correctly (UDP 10823, 10824, 10825)
• Disable UPnP in the router – manual port forwarding is more stable
• Avoid background downloads and streaming during operation

Hardware tips

• Prefer CPU with high single-core performance
• RAM: 8 GB minimum, 16 GB for servers with many mods and players
• SSD storage for fast loading times
• Don't use the server PC for gaming at the same time

Savegame optimization

• Regularly archive old savegames
• Don't let the savegame folder become too large
• Create backups before making major changes

Common problems and solutions

• Players get disconnected: Check ports, verify firewall settings
• Server runs slowly: Reduce mods, increase auto-save interval
